Questions

Answers before you order.

Ordering and delivery

How do I order?

Send us a WhatsApp message, call, or use the quote form on this site. Tell us the product, quantity and delivery town, and we reply with a price.

Why are prices not listed?

Feed prices change with the season and delivery cost depends on distance and load size. We quote the actual price for your order so you know the full amount before you commit.

Is there a minimum order?

No fixed minimum. Small orders are easiest near Nyeri. For distant counties, larger orders keep the delivery cost per bale or bag reasonable.

How do I pay?

Payment terms are agreed when you confirm the order. Institutions can request a quotation and invoice.

Can I collect from Nyeri?

Yes. Call or WhatsApp first so we can have your order ready.

Boma Rhodes Hay

How much does a bale of Boma Rhodes hay cost?

Prices change through the year. They are lowest after harvest and rise in the dry months. Send us the number of bales and your location and we will give you today's price with delivery.

How many bales does one cow need?

A mature dairy cow eating hay as her main roughage can get through roughly two-thirds of a bale a day, depending on bale weight and what else she eats. Use our feed calculator for a figure based on your herd.

Do you deliver hay outside Nyeri?

Yes. We deliver to farms across central Kenya, the Rift Valley, Nairobi and Eastern. Larger orders are easier to deliver far because the transport cost is shared across more bales.

Can I collect from Nyeri?

Yes. Call or WhatsApp us to agree a time and we will have the bales ready for loading.

Goat Manure

Why goat manure instead of cow dung?

Goat pellets are drier, so a bag carries more manure and less water. They are easier to spread and smell less. Both improve soil; goat manure is simply easier to handle and transport.

Can I put goat manure straight on my vegetables?

Mix it into the soil before planting, or use it once it has rotted. Fresh manure placed right against seedlings can scorch them.

How do you sell it?

Mostly loose, by the pickup or lorry load, tipped where you want it on the farm. Smaller orders can go in bags. Tell us how much land you are covering and we will suggest a quantity.

Is it good for avocado and macadamia?

Yes. Many growers in Nyeri, Murang'a and Kiambu mix manure into planting holes and add a layer each year before the rains.

Silage

How much silage does a dairy cow eat?

It depends on the cow's size, yield and what else she eats. A common range for a cow on a mixed ration is about 15 to 25 kg of silage a day. Ask us and we will help you work out a weekly order.

How long does silage keep?

Sealed silage keeps for months. Once opened it begins to heat and spoil, so feed it within two to three days.

Can goats eat silage?

Yes, in moderation and introduced slowly. Goats do best with plenty of dry roughage alongside it.

Do you supply silage in bulk?

Yes. We supply a few wrapped bales for small farms and full lorry loads for larger herds and co-operatives.
