Dry-season feed
Boma Rhodes Hay
Leafy Boma Rhodes grass, cut, sun-dried and baled. Sold by the bale or by the lorry load.

Boma is a Rhodes grass variety (Chloris gayana) grown widely in Kenya for hay. It is tall and leafy, it holds up in dry spells, and livestock eat it readily.
We sell it in square bales. A farmer with two cows can take a few bales at a time. A ranch or a dairy unit can book a full lorry and stock up before the dry months.

How to feed Rhodes hay
Bring it in gradually
If your animals are on fresh grass, mix the hay in over a week so the rumen can adjust.
Feed it off the ground
Use a rack or trough. Hay dropped on wet ground gets trampled and wasted.
Keep water close
Animals on dry hay drink more. Clean water should always be within reach.
Balance the ration
Hay is roughage. Milking cows still need a concentrate and minerals to keep production up.

Questions
Boma Rhodes Hay: common questions
How much does a bale of Boma Rhodes hay cost?
Prices change through the year. They are lowest after harvest and rise in the dry months. Send us the number of bales and your location and we will give you today's price with delivery.
How many bales does one cow need?
A mature dairy cow eating hay as her main roughage can get through roughly two-thirds of a bale a day, depending on bale weight and what else she eats. Use our feed calculator for a figure based on your herd.
Do you deliver hay outside Nyeri?
Yes. We deliver to farms across central Kenya, the Rift Valley, Nairobi and Eastern. Larger orders are easier to deliver far because the transport cost is shared across more bales.
Can I collect from Nyeri?
Yes. Call or WhatsApp us to agree a time and we will have the bales ready for loading.
